Romans 5:15
"For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!"
What Strikes Me Most Today
"The many died by the trespass of the one man" refers to Adam. I have read Father Joseph T. Lienhard, S.J., who explains that a medieval tradition held that Calvary was also the burial site of Adam. In medieval art, the skull depicted at the foot of the Cross is not just any skull, but it is Adam's skull! It makes me look at those paintings in a whole new light with the death of humanity by our own sin, but rising above it is Jesus on the Cross, redeeming us through His sacrifice on that same Calvary. I don't know if it's true, but I appreciate the contrast!
