From Saint and Thought For Every Day,
by Blessed James Alberione
St. Raymond of Penyafort - Priest
St. Raymond was born of a noble Spanish family in 1175. While still young, he became a member of the Dominican Order. He worked zealously for the institution of the Order of Our Lady of Ransom. He refused the position of General of his Order and devoted himself to labor among the infidels. In 1275, just before his one hundredth birthday, he gave up his beautiful soul to God.
Let us imitate St. Raymond and always keep ourselves prepared to go to our eternal reward.
Social Life
Human beings are naturally ordained by God to live in society. In fact, man could not live in isolation, since he would not be able to attain physical, moral and intellectual perfection by himself. God gave man the inclination to complete his own insufficiency by associating with others, whether in domestic, civil, or religious life. And this is a natural right, which no one can violate.

Jesus Master is a Compendium of All
Way, truth and life is a divine title, proclaimed as such by Jesus our Master and in these three words is synthesized all that he is for us.
Way, truth and life summarizes
- the whole of religion,
- of love,
- all that man owes God in mind, will and heart.
- Jesus Master way, truth and life is also the principal devotion.
- it is most useful for our spiritual growth,
- an inexhaustible source of grace,
- a boundless horizon of light and love.
What Strikes Me Most Today
What strikes me most today is the idea that man is not able "to attain physical, moral and intellectual perfection by himself. God gave man the inclination to complete his own insufficiency by associating with others." I know that is how I learn best, by discussing areas of interest with others. My hope is that more people who read words on this blog will be touched by the Holy Spirit and moved to share some of their own thoughts about their faith journeys, to help complete the insufficiencies in my faith life and help me grow closer to Jesus, way, truth and life.
I couldn't agree more that those around us complete us in so many ways. I know when I find myself overwhelmed with good feelings from spending time with someone I care for just proves to me God has directed those people to me to fill certain holes in my life. And, most importantly, I need to enjoy this gift of His because that's who these people are, gifts from God.
