From A Year With Blessed James Alberione,
Compiled by J. Maurus
Think with Christ
It is necessary that our faith be more lively, lively to such an extent that our thoughts are not just ours but of Christ.
The heavenly Father has sent us his Son to teach us: how to think and how to live.
He declared: "this is my own dear son, with whom I am pleased, listen to him" (Mt 17:5).
There are persons who live in Jesus, and you hear them speak always in a spiritual sense. But there are persons who, though religious, reason and speak as if they were mere Christians. And there are Christians who reason and speak as if they were just human beings. And there are human beings who behave not even as decent persons.
How it delights the heart of God when we think according to faith.
Life must be focused on high, not flat, horizontal, but upright, fixed on heaven, on God.
From Saint and Thought For Every Day,
by Blessed James Alberione
Knowledge
After virtue, knowledge is the most precious ornament and completion of the human intellect. Knowledge elevates all the natural faculties. Because the intellect is the light of the soul, it is of great advantage to use it, and to enrich it with solid and useful knowledge. There is no doubt that God's will, as well as our own good, call for the perfection of every being. Therefore, let us study, reflect and utilize experiences.
What Strikes Me Most Today
What strikes me most today is the image I posted with today's writings. It shows the "Night Between the Centuries." Today's writings reminded me of this story, because even as a seminarian, Blessed James Alberione kept his focus high, on God. Had he not, he might have missed God's call for his life and the future of evangelization in the 20th century and beyond.
