St. Athanasius
Bishop and Doctor
St. Athanasius was born in the third century. He was bishop of Alexandria, Egypt, for 45 years, and is called the "Hammer of the Arians." He died in 373 after having been exiled five times because of his defense of the cause of the Church.
Let us pray to the saints and ask for their courage and constant "youthfulness" in serving the cause of Christ!
Mary, the Woman
Mary gave to mankind the Divine Teacher, the eternal Priest, the perfect Victim. She was virgin and mother, immaculate and assumed into heaven. She is most holy, queen of martyrs, co-redemptrix with her Son, and universal mediatrix of grace: the Woman.
From A Year With Blessed James Alberione,

May: month of Mary
The month of May always inspires in us a great confidence and a great hope in the grace of our heavenly mother.
It is a sort of long visit she makes to the families like the one she made to the house of Elizabeth bringing ineffable graces of every kind. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, her child John the Baptist was made holy in her womb and Zachary regained his lost power of speech.
Such is the effect of a visit of the heavenly Mother to families.
We shall certainly receive her with great love and greet her: "Hail Queen." Like the angel, we shall rejoice at her greatness: "We greet you, O, full of grace, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women."
What Strikes Me Most Today
The idea of the constant youthfulness of the Saints caught my attention today. Many pictures of Saints show them older, but it is true that most of them had youthful qualities in their tireless works and prayers while on earth. Blessed Alberione, Blessed Timothy Giaccardo, and Venerable Mother Thecla Merlo come to mind as people who worked tirelessly to bring Jesus the Divine Master, Way, Truth, and Life to the world. Their saintly youthfulness was obvious to the end of their lives.
What strikes you most today?
